1) How are your mats made?

We start with a piece of new vinyl flooring, cut it to shape, and then work on the back side. We prime it, hand-paint the design, and then apply up to 4 coats of industrial polyurethane. The result is a colourful and durable mat that will give years of enjoyment.

2) How big are they?

The rectangles are 36 X 22 inches ( 92mm X 56 mm ) and the half-moons are 32 X 18 inches ( 82mm X 45mm ) Finished mats may vary slightly from these dimensions.

3) Where can they be used?

Our mats should be used on a hard surface floor. Most people use them in front of their kitchen sinks, or in bathrooms and hallways.

4) Can I use them outdoors?

They can be taken out for the day, but should not be left outside all the time.

5) How do I clean my mat?

Most dirt and stains can be easily removed with mild soap and water. Please avoid harsh cleaning products that contain bleach or ammonia.

6) Do you make custom mats?

Absolutely! You can have a standard design made with colours you have chosen, or standard designs can be sized to your specifications. We also do complete custom mats up to 9' x 12'. Customers have sent us pictures of their houses, summer cottages, pets and boats. We also can work from wallpaper samples and pictures from decorating magazines and seed catalogs. Or from your own ideas! Our mats make unique Thank You gifts and offer a personal touch that cannot be achieved by shopping at the mall.

7) How much does a custom mat cost?

Depending on the complexity of the design, custom mats start at $12.00 per sq ft.

8) How long do they last?

We have had customers who have enjoyed their mats for up to 10 years. Of course,not every mat will last that long, as the amount of foot traffic and care your mat receives will impact the wearability. But the comment we hear most often from our customers is that they would like to buy a new one, but the old one won't wear out!!! This is good for you, not so good for us!

9) Will the mats move around on my floor?

On most surfaces, they won't. If you find your mat moves around, this can be easily corrected by putting a couple of small pieces ( 6 X 6 in / 15 X 15 mm ) of thin shelf liner under your mat. Do not use the product sold for use under carpets. This is too thick and not necessary. Try the shelf liner, it really works! And shelf liner is available just about anywhere.

10) Will the mats stain my floor?

NO! The back side of our mats is the vinyl side you normally see. Our mats do not have a rubber backing and do not off-gas. They are ideal for use on wood floors, particularly in high traffic areas such as kitchens.

11) How environmentally friendly are your mats?

We are very concerned about our environment. All our paints and polyurethane are made from water-based products and our packaging is all recyclable where facilities exist.
